Get a Bearing...

I pressed out the steering head bearing races on two Hondas I'm working on. One, a budget build due to a tweaked frame from 3 crashes and  fuckin Lucifer is still alive... and the other a racier build for myself and soon for sale. Or maybe I'll sell the Kawi, who knows.

Since I'll be using a Yamaha R1 front end, plans include a new stem to fit 750 neck and bearings, derake the bitch and move it forward and down 1-1/2". I got this bike with the backbone hacked off, so it gives me a fresh start as to how I want to redo and reinforce the existing frame. I'm thinking Norton featherbed meets Multistrada. I've been collecting bits and pieces this last year, and the wheels I found fit the bill and will work with the R1 front rotors after some tweaking. Front is a 19" 5-spoke mag from a 80's Virago and rear is an 18" 5-spoke from a KZ550. Before all this can happen, I will start making an adjustable frame jig. Wish me luck!!!

Can you hear the thunder??

Big thanks to Russel from Down Under for supporting the cause of not leaving your bike stock. Here's a closeup of his EFI Sporty with a polished BUBBA. A clean setup with an aftermarket backing plate and breathers from Benchmark of course.
Now when arriving at  Born Free 3, look for me and my buddy Craze from Eternal Combustion. We'll be the cats with beers to share and stories to tell about the 3 bikes we're bringing in. So stop by and introduce yourself and enjoy this magical day although the wizards and dragons won't be there unless under a couple coats of  aging clear.

2 Days for Born Free.....

Here's a slideshow from last year and a video I shot of the after party at Alex's Bar. Beautiful Buzzards playing...

Rear wheel real deal

Yup, that's a Moto Guzzi rear shaft drive wheel with drum brake, so why convert over to sprocket for a '47 Knuckle? If  I have to answer that question, you just don't get why we do the things we do. First off the hubcap and cutting a 4" hole for the outside sprocket spacer to hold via a machined flange on the underside. Next, the inner spacer that holds hub to splined drive hub. And finally the sprocket spacer which will accept a custom 50 tooth 7075 Aluminum sprocket made to order.

Super DerBee

...so in the never-ending quest for total awesomeness, my buddy Craze hands me this NOS Superior derby cover and makes a small request: make him a badass air cleaner for his Super B. Oh and add this and that and what not?!?!?!   So here it is all worked out and ready to gently rub against his right leg like a faithful dog.
I think we're getting close.............

Save the Trees

Two jobs from the same dude fell on my lap with the task of putting in an ignition switch in place of the riser holes (using clipons) on a 35mm Narrow Glide. The next one: an old 41mm narrow tree setup that needed the riser holes repositioned to 3-1/2", spacers made, and some sexy curves added to an otherwise square chunk of steel. Those are getting chrome-plated and if you are going to Born-Free....of course you're going....we will be in the Eternal Combustion booth, so stop by and say hello.

Go out and make stuff...

If you bothered to notice, I'm redoing some stuff on the KZ, from the bars to the tank to the seat which will move up and down via a fox airshock. Here is the fulcrum bracket positioned on the crosssbar which a pair of levers attach the seat to the shock. Stay tuned for more pics.
